Occidental Community Choir, Spring 2019.
Spring 2020 concerts were canceled
Due to the global pandemic, Spring 2020 concerts were canceled.
Thanks so much to all the people who have asked how we are doing. Our last in-person rehearsals were held in early March, just before the county-wide shutdown.
Everyone please stay safe and sane during this hard time. We look forward to singing for you again in person in the future!
In the meantime… Keep the spirit of OCC live in your hearts, and in your ears!
Our 40th Anniversary Twin-CD Set is now ready for shipment. One CD covers Winter 2018 and the other Spring 2019. Most of the music for those concerts was drawn from our library of compositions written by our members over the years. If you pre-purchased the set last year, you should be receiving yours soon. If not, check back here on about July 19, and buy your own with a few clicks.
Our Beginning
Back in 1978, on Christmas Eve, a group of musically-minded souls from the hills surrounding Occidental, California gathered around a campfire in the center of town to sing carols. We didn’t want to go home, so we started a choir.
Through the decades the choir has solidified its reputation for excellence by producing unique concert experiences that combine humor, storytelling, poetry, varied instrumental accompaniment, and an off-the-beaten-path repertoire.

and breathe out songs in four parts;
we bring life to the notes on the pages,
and the music gives light to our hearts…"

Our Mission
Our mission is both simple and clear: To create, collaborate in performing, and in promoting great music, much of it composed by our members. We mentor and support one another in developing our skills as singers, lyricists and composers. Our music encompasses a wide range of personal experience and reflects the authentic connection we have with one another and the larger community.
