Lost & Found

music & words by Bob Cullinen
(known in choir lore as originator of the verb "to bob")

This wonderful piece was the title song of our 1997 spring concert by the same name. It features some of our richest, most expressive male voices in solos, starting and ending with our versatile director Doug Bowes. In between you get to hear Chris Reibli, Bob Cullinen, Alfie Johns and Robert Paul.

During the instrumental bridge you may notice that the saxophonist, Alfie Johns, appears to stray into a weedy patch for a moment. This now famous passage spawned the verb, "to bob". Why "to bob" and not "to alfie"? Well, because Alfie was led astray by composer/pianist Bob Cullinen who took off on his own ecstatic, but unrehearsed, path for a moment, thus "bobbing" Alfie.
