Plants

I like plants better than people
Plants, they never do evil
Plants, all they ever want is to grow
Plants are smarter than us, they make a living
without any fuss
Water, sun and air are all they need to glow.
Do I have to get specific? I think plants are so terrific.

Plants are generous souls
They feed all the animals, provide us with clothes
They make all the oxygen that we suck up our nose
Plants lead spiritual lives,
Without religions that humans devise
From the humblest fungus, to the most perfect rose
Plants don’t worry when they die,
They know they’ll be back by and by.
Plants were here long before we came along,
And even after we’re all long gone,
Don’t you worry, ’cause you know there always will be plants!

Learning How to Love & Sing Now the Dreamer

There are shadows across this land
one hundred stories tall
And no matter where you stand
that’s where the shadows fall

But in the darkest hours of night
above the chatter on TV
There are stars across the heavens
for as far as you can see

In the arms of a midnight sky
we are learning how to love
There are stars enough for every heart tonight
waiting there for you at the speed of light

Say hello Say goodbye
In the arms of a midnight sky
Learning how to love

There are children watching
every single move we make
And they hear us talk of right and wrong
and love and hate

But when the darkness fills their dreams
and walks the hallways of their schools
There are no easy answers
to the trail of broken rules

There are stars that wait for wishes
stars that guide us safely home
all around the world as stars come in to view
And it feels like someone’s holding you

Say hello Say goodbye
In the arms of a midnight sky
Learning how to love

All these stars for choices that we make
And for all the hearts our choices break

Say hello Say goodbye
In the arms of a midnight sky
Learning how to love

Music From Home

Sifting down through the redwood branches
Riding in on the ocean foam
Rising in the song of a mockingbird
Music, music from home

Music from home, sing me a true song
Music from home, one of your own
Music from home, when I’m lonesome
I need music, music from home

Morning news is all talk and static
Afternoon is the office drone
Longing for an evening of solitude
Music, music from home

Music from home, sing me a true song
Music from home, one of your own
Music from home, when I’m lonesome
I need music, music from home

Driving these rain-wet roads
The moon my sole companion
Hearing your soaring voice
from every hill and canyon

Car wheels crunch on the driveway gravel
Rusty creek of the old screen door
Happy sound of my own arrival
Back here where I belong

Music from home, sing me a true song
Music from home, one of your own
Music from home, when I’m lonesome
I need music, music from home
I need music, music from home
